A thank you from a sponsored donation

July 2021, Back in November 2019 before COVID Worthing Lions received a request from from a 17 year old student at Worthing College to assist with the funding for a 19 day expedition to Scotland with Outward Bound. He has done a lot of fundraising to cover his trip costs and needs a further £150 to complete this. Lion Ted proposed this, seconded by Lion Chris G.

He has now thanked us after having completed his expedition in July 2021:

"Back in December 2019, you kindly sponsored me to do a 70 mile bike ride along the Downs link and back, in order to raise money so I could do a 19 day Outward Bound expedition in Scotland. I am happy to tell you that I successfully completed the bike ride, starting at 6am and finishing at 4pm- a total of 10 hours, with less than favourable weather. Unfortunately the Outward Bound course due to take place in July 2020 was cancelled because of Covid 19 restrictions, however I was given the opportunity to book a place for this summer instead. I started the expedition on 28th June and finished on the 15th July and had an absolutely amazing time! I met up in Fort William with the rest of my group, and then went on to do canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, gorge walking and abseiling, with some of the best weather that the instructors had seen in years. As well as having an amazing time, I also learnt a lot about myself in terms of leadership, teamwork and aiming for goals. Overall I had a great time and am very grateful that you sponsored me, as without it I wouldn't have been able to experience this incredible opportunity."
